Event Partners Announced for the IPC Academy Campus
29 July 2016

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and World Academy of Sport (WAoS) are pleased to announce the Partners who are supporting two key elements of the 2016 IPC Academy Campus which is set to take place between 6-17 September alongside the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

The Adecco Group will partner the Inclusion Summit and the UK’s Department for International Trade is partnering the Closing Cocktail Reception. Further partner announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

“We are excited to have the Adecco Group and the UK’s Department for International Trade join the IPC Academy Campus as Partners,” said Xavier Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer of the IPC. “Their support of the Campus is particularly welcome in light of their collective experience in the major events industry, from procurement through to athlete development. Their participation and guidance will add insights that will benefit the programme and provide inspiration for all our participants.”

The Adecco Group – Partner for the Inclusion Summit (15-16 September)

The Adecco Group, the world’s leading provider of Human Resources solutions, has been working with the IPC since 2007 through its co-operation on the IPC Athlete Career Programme (IPC ACP) which helps Paralympic athletes achieve life-long success on and off the field of play. A key element of the Programme focuses on inclusion in the workplace. Shanthi Flynn, the Adecco Group’s Chief HR Officer, will speak at the IPC Academy Campus’ Inclusion Summit on the topic ‘Testimony of Change’. She will talk about Inclusion and how initiatives driven by IPC ACP facilitate the integration of athletes with disabilities into the workplace. Shanthi Flynn will take to the stage as part of a programme that will emphasise the importance of inclusion and accessibility, and how the Paralympic Games have developed into the world’s number one sporting event for driving social inclusion.

Department for International Trade [for the UK] – Partner for the Closing Cocktail Reception (16 September)

A Closing Cocktail Reception will bring proceedings of the 2016 IPC Academy Campus to a close on the relaxed roof terrace surroundings of the British House at the Shopping Metropolitano Barra (www.britishhouserio.com). Sponsored by the UK’s Department for International Trade, which supports UK-companies in the export of goods and services to the international major events industry among others sectors, the reception will offer networking opportunities for all IPC Academy Campus participants and act as a ‘graduation ceremony’ for the Campus. Approximately 400-500 people will come together to celebrate the success of the Campus and will be the biggest event-learning gathering of major sport event organisers and their stakeholders ever held in the world.
