World Academy of Sport appoints Director of Programme Services

Today the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) announced that in its growing global portfolio of programmes and activities, it has appointed Mr Andy Preece as its Director of Programme Services. Andy will oversee and ensure the successful delivery of all WAoS programmes, including programme operations and content development and management.

Andy has a Masters degree in Sport Management and close to 25 years international consultancy experience in the sports and major events sectors. He has worked for cities of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup and Cricket World Cup.  Individual clients have included the International Rugby Board, Government of Barbados, New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development, the Hong Kong Home Affairs Bureau and the Dutch National Olympic Committee which has provided Andy a broad background across national and international trends in the sport and event management sector. Andy has also had been involved with the WAoS since 2008 as a Visiting Fellow.

He commented "it is very exciting to be joining the World Academy of Sport on a full time basis having supported WAoS programmes for several years. In particular I am looking forward to applying my international network, sports sector experience and my consultancy skills to this challenging role and helping WAoS expand their impressive range of education programmes”.

Having been involved with our programmes for several years it is a natural progression for Andy to now join us in such a senior post.
