Today the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) announced that in its growing portfolio of programmes and activities it has appointed Sue Whitworth as its Academies Manager. Sue will take on the management of each of the partnerships that the WAoS has with several International Federations and the respective joint Academies that have been active for several years in each case.
Sue has an extensive background with international sport having most recently finished her role as European NOC Manager at London 2012 within the NOC and NPC Services and Relations Team. Her wide-ranging CV also entails developing special projects for the Commonwealth Games Federation, CEO of International Netball Federation and marketing and communications at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games.
She commented "it is very exciting to be joining such a dynamic organisation as the World Academy of Sport in my home town of Manchester. Following the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games I have been focussed on continuing in a role that allows me to extend the relationships and skills that I have developed in recent years. I watched first-hand the broad range of programmes that the WAoS underpinned during the Paralympic Games through the IPC Academy and to now have the opportunity to drive these projects forward is certainly something I'm very much looking forward to."
Chris Solly, Director of the WAoS stated "we have been evolving the series of programmes that are being delivered with each of our respective sports and it is timely that we welcome Sue to our team. She comes to us with a unique background in sport having successfully delivered projects across a number of roles at the national and international level. With such a strategic position being defined within the WAoS we welcome the further development of innovative educational programmes with our current and future International Federation partners."
